January 29th through Feb. 4th, Gehlen Catholic joined the National Catholic Education Association & schools throughout the Diocese of Sioux City to celebrate Catholic Schools Week (CSW).

Gehlen Catholic President, Reverend Kevin Richter, invited parents, parishes, alumni, and the community to "Come and See...Hear....Witness...and Experience" for themselves how Gehlen Catholic epitomizes this year's Catholic Schools Week theme just as Jesus invited Philip and Nathanael to "Come and See" in the first gospel of John.

Catholic Schools Week began on Monday at All Saints' Catholic Parish-St. Joseph's Church-LeMars, Mass was celebrated by Gehlen Catholic faculty, staff, students and communities with Fr. Shane Deman presiding.  On Wednesday, Gehlen hosted the Le Mars Chamber coffee and the annual Peter Gehlen Legacy Society Luncheon. Thursday, Gehlen Catholic hosted the the annual family picnic. Friday's fun-filled day included a Student Blessing and lunch served by Gehlen Catholic dads and grandpa's. Saturday, the week concluded with the Spalding Catholic Gala in Hospers.

Rev. Kevin Richter, a graduate of Spalding Catholic School, stated, “I have always held, and continue to hold, the conviction that Catholic Schools are a tremendous gift and opportunity in passing on our Catholic faith and traditions to our children. Catholic schools provide a values-based education that emphasizes intellectual, spiritual, moral, physical and social values in our students. Catholic schools have a far-reaching impact on shaping the world, whether it is through our student’s support of our parishes, community, local and international missions to our alumni’s chosen ministries years after their graduation.”

Gehlen Catholic School is proud to be one of 16 Catholic school systems in the Diocese of Sioux City and 6,685 Catholic Schools in the United States dedicated to educating and preparing students for a Christian life.
