Long Range Strategic Plan

Executive Summary and Process

"With all the turmoil in the world (war, families, poverty), nothing has the solution like Catholic values and principles. These values and principles are taught at Gehlen Catholic School. Therefore, there is no better place to invest your dollars than in Catholic education and Gehlen Catholic School." - Mr. Richard Ahlers, former Gehlen Catholic teacher and current Gehlen Catholic Schools Endowment Fund President

To ensure the continued achievement and longevity of Gehlen Catholic, the school embarked upon the 2012-2017 long range strategic plan entitled "Excellence in Education. Leadership through Christ." The plan, which was created in collaboration with the Diocese of Sioux City's Long Range Plan, builds upon Gehlen Catholic's current successes including:

  • Transformation of students through their faith and service,
  • Growth in enrollment,
  • Significant new investments in technology and the wellness center, and
  • Financial support through tuition assistance streams, capital campaigns, and debt reduction.

The 2012-2017 plan also proactively addresses Gehlen Catholic's future needs including Catholic Identity, Academic Excellence, Buildings and Grounds, Enrollment Management, Finance, Governance and Personnel.

The goal of the 2012-2017 plan is to ensure Gehlen Catholic continuees to be recognized in the LeMars area for the school's "Faith, Values, Service, and Academic Excellence" through the effective utilization of financial, human, and technological resources.
