Service - It's What We Do!
Service is an integral component of Gehlen Catholic's ministries - from serving our local community and parishes to those around the world.
Here are a few of the life-changing projects Gehlen Catholic preschool through 12thgrade students, staff,and parents have been involved in:
- Service and ministryto parish shut-ins and nursing home residents through Fall Service Day, Advent gift bags, Ash Wednesday services
- ThenFeed Just One(a multi-generational, non-denominational food packaging event)prepared and shipped nearly 250,000 meals to Honduras and Africa;
- Mission Honduras: Gehlen Catholic is dedicated to serving the poor of Honduras by improving the living conditions in the various villages through:
- Christian Leadership Team:
- Water projects,
- A blanket program,
- Health and medical care,
- Then Feed Just One,
- Support of two medical clinics and a malnutrition center,
- All under the direction of retired 7-12 Guidance Counselor, Mr.Richard Seivert, who was honored by Siouxland Red Cross at the 2007 Siouxland Heroes Banquet.
- Sponsor various service projects in thecommunityand the Siouxland area,
- Charge of planning and implementingliturgies and prayer servicesincluding but not limited to the Anointing Liturgy and Veteran's Day Prayer Service; and
- Respond to numerous requests for assistance from local residents.
